Creating and managing an Instagram account dedicated to my art has allowed me to expand my illustrative skills and explore my new-found passion for digital art.

commissions

In addition to my "artstagram" becoming a creative outlet post-graduating, I have been lucky to receive requests for paid commissioned artworks. This has led me to gain experience with direct-to-client communication, dictating pricing and meeting deadlines.

Rspca Qld

2 years experience at RSPCA Queensland as a Graphic Designer in the marketing team expanded my skills in the Adobe Suite as well as learning how to closely collaborate with senior designers, copy writers and multi-media artists, creating cohesively-branded collateral material across multiple channels and breaking down complex issues including animal welfare into comprehensible content.

aphrodite

For my last year in my Honours degree at QUT we were tasked with solely ideating, designing and producing a piece of work that represented our skills and studies we had developed. For 9 months I independently worked on a project that culminated in a fully-realised book, Aphrodite.

Aphrodite is an interactive female empowerment companion book. It is a physical facilitator for women to learn to, and continue to, love themselves in all their glory. Interactive elements such as fill-in-the-blanks, rip-out pages, stickers and more, drive a greater connection between the book and reader. The themes of representation and empowerment are featured to encourage progression towards gender equality through a micro-solution to the macro issue.

This project saw me gaining knowledge in pre-print and print production, layout design, typography, colour theory, and a fully-developed design process.

freelance design

Since graduating I have begun slowly but surely developing my skills in freelance graphic design with unpaid work. These opportunities have allowed me to learn the process of initial contact with the client all the way through to a final product.

One example is below is a logo I designed for a friend's eco-friendly clothing brand, CNTRL Z. They wished to include "green" imagery without falling into predictable iconography like the Earth, leaves and other organic matter. Through many iterations and close communication, I proposed the final design that incorporated a clothing hanger to represent the brand type as well as recycle arrows representing the brand's name and message to rewind time and the fashion industry's effect on the environment.
